(Wouldn't that title be good for the next movie?) The big news this week clearly was the new Avenger movie that came out on Friday and is destined to break every possible record. It did not matter where you looked, something about The Avengers could be found. The only exception was the television show "Game of Thrones", but rumor has it that The Avengers will show up in the final show to finally kill all the dead people. (If you don't know what I'm talking about there apparently are dead people that are alive, sort of)
The Avenger movie supposedly ends a series of 22 movies that have been put out over the past years which you can't possibly remember or watch to get up to date. This new three hour movie is being talked about as being "the greatest movie of all time", even greater than "The Lord of the Rings!"
So, there I was visiting my Dad on Sunday night and I had a television in front of me, which is pretty unusual for me. My Dad wanted to watch Fox News(I'm joking, don't get upset kids), but it wasn't on yet. I looked through all the channels and found about 6-10 Avenger type/superhero movies that were going to be on. My Dad isn't a superhero fan, so I needed another option.
I found a movie called "Jack Reacher" with Tom Cruise and I felt confident that this movie would be a good fit for our evening. We sat down to watch and when it came on I wasn't sure what I was watching. After about five minutes I realized that they switched movies and it was another superhero movie that I haven't seen. We watched the first fifteen minutes and then found something else.
There will come a time at some point this summer that we will stop seeing stories about The Avengers, their tearful farewell and ravings about the movie. But, until that time, get used to it-The Avengers are everywhere!
